CLAPOTIS PROGRESS...

I have been knitting away any free moment I could find. I've even taken to knitting on my breaks at work. Which is actually a joke, as I only get one 23 min and two 30 min breaks. Most times I have to forgo one knitting break to eat lunch. And since the time is so short, and I'm not that fast a knitter, I usually only get one row done a break. Also, I have to contend with the looky loo's, and questions. There's one woman in particular who bugs me on a regular basis about making something for her. And my response is always, "If I knit you a garment, you'd have one thing to wear. But if I teach you to knit, you'd have clothing and accessories for a lifetime!" She always just giggles and walks away. I don't know why she thinks I'm joking. "I'M NOT!!!!!"

I'm progressing slowly but surely. It's not looking too bad, to me. And I'm having a ball knitting it. When I first looked at a pic of the Clapotis, I thought, "there is no way a beginner can do this!" Then I read the pattern and thought it didn't look like it was too terribly difficult. So when I actually sat down and started working on it I was so relieved at the ease of it. I just couldn't wait to get to the dropping stitches part of the pattern. That is too much fun.

I'm definately going to be making one of these for my mom for her birthday. I'm not sure what yarn I should use. But I do know that I want her to be able to wear it to "Red Hatter" events.

Any yarn suggestions?

I haven't tried this one yet, but I'm glad to see that you think it's easy.

I loved knitting the Clapotis! It is such an addictive pattern. Your's looks great so far! I hate it when people think I would enjoy knitting them their dream garment when they should just pick up the needles themselves....teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime mentality on my part I guess.

It looks beautiful so far! Love the response you gave to the woman who wants you to knit for her. Hopefully she'll realize you're not kidding and sit down for a lesson!

I love the way your Clappy is coming out. Of course I've been too chicken to try it out for myself, but your post is giving me one more reason to try it anyway. Thanks Shorty!
