Charcoal Jitterbug Jaywalkers Hate Me...

I'm on my second attempt at the Jaywalkers out of Collinette Jitterbug in Charcoal colorway. My first attempt ended just above the ankles. I tried a great toe up version, but totally screwed it up. The foot ended up being about 2 inches too long after the added gusset stitches.

Now, I'm re-knitting them top down-two at once, and I've just realized that the dye lots are different. I was in such a state to get these socks done for my February socks, that I didn't even realize how different the two are. Oh well, I'm going to push on and finish them, as is. And hope that much later I can make two more socks out of the leftover yarn from each ball to make two complete and identical pairs.

Only time will tell.

Sometimes Life Sucks!

I have spent almost two weeks on a pair of top down Jaywalkers, curtisity of Natalia Knits. And at Knit Afternoon In at my LYS yesterday I discovered that after the gusset increases, and a terribly hard time with the heel, I had made the sock over two inches to big. One of the ladies whom I was knitting with at the store kept hinting about how they would fit her, and she'd love them. As much as I'd love to give them to her, I can't do it. So sorry Tanya! But after hours of agonizing I have frogged them and put the yarn aside to be knit into a pair of socks later. Crazy I know! But I couldn't part with the idea of this yarn as a pair of Jaywalkers for me.

Now I've got to decide what to do now. I have lots more sock yarn to knit up. And lots of patterns I want to knit. Maybe the other Jitterbug sock yarn I have, or maybe even the beautiful yarn I got from the Yarn Pirate last week. I need to decide quick.

Snow Days Suck!

When I was in school I longed for snow days. But as an adult, snow days suck. They cause problems at work which add up to loss of income. The news said we got about six inches of snow, but the wind is causing major drifts which continue to pile the snow up even if it's been plowed/shoveled. I walked out of the house with every intention on making it to work. But...the snow had drifted up to my bumper and even with front wheel drive I got stuck trying to get out of my driveway. As much as I hated to do it, I called off work. I just don't have it in me right now to fight the snow drifts in an attempt to get to work.

Oh well! At least I may be able to get some work done on my Jaywalker socks. Hopefully I'll have some progress pics later.

Knit Night Out

Friday was my LYS's (Have You AnyWool) Knit Night Out. I got to knit with my friends, Beth, Tracy and Amy. And a few others I had never met before.

Afterwards we went out for martinis at a local pizza parlour.

Since I can no longer knit at work, except on my breaks (I used to sneak in a row or two when my machine was down) I'm not getting nearly as much knitting done. My second pair of Jaywalkers are creeping along very slowly.

I'm knitting them toe up based on a toe up tutorial I found on-line. So far they look great. I've gotten to the gusset section and have my fingers crossed. Hopefully these will be as cute as I think they will be.

Long Time No Post...

The last week and a half have been so eventful, I've barely had time to knit. Let alone blog about knitting.

My family has been keeping me busy. Saturday after running a couple of errands, I made an appearance at Knit Michigan. I met a friend of a friend, Jae. She was working on a beautiful wrap made out of several different colors of Touch Me yarn.

Isn't it lovely?

Superbowl Sunday was spent with some of the wonderful ladies I knit with on Tuesdays and Thursdays: Beth, Amy, Angela, Jen and Tracey.

I had a wonderful time (I did hardly no knitting) watching the others knit, watching the Knitty Gritty marathon, eating great food and in the company of great friends. Amy's husband even made us a special brownie for our "Knitter Bowl". The ball is a ball of yarn. And the players are cats of course. Too cute!

Now I'm off to try to get some knitting done before bed.
