HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

What a week this has been. I was finishing the top I was working on and decided to try it on. Low and behold it doesn't fit. Uugghh!!! I rechecked the sizing chart, my gauge swatch, and the measurements of the top. Everything came out as planned. Then I checked my body meausrements, eureka! My measurements changed. Man it sucks. Oh well, I guess this is someones way of telling me it's time to go on a diet.

I'M A FOOL FOR BAMBOO!!!

I was chatting with a new knitting friend earlier about some of the yarn I recently purchased and I realized there was a way for me to show some of my stash. I could post a picture in my blog to show the different brands of bamboo and soy silk yarns I have collected over the last few months. When you consider I just started knitting again a few months ago, the fact that I have this many different types is kind of sad. Most of these were purchased without any type of project in mind. I saw them, I wanted them, I bought them. What does that make me? I know my impulse control is bad, but it's times like this that show just how bad I am.

Attended my first SnB

last night I went to my very first SnB. What a joy! I met two of the nicest ladies. As I am new to all of this (SnB, Meetups, etc.) I wasn't sure what to expect. Boy was I pleasently surprised. The help and information I got from these ladies was invaluable, and appreciated greatly. I have joined a couple of other SnB groups that I will start attending next week. Crafters are the nicest people I've ever met. And I'm so glad I'm a part of it.

Can Someone Help Me Understand?

I just don't get it. Why are some people so totally clueless about life. Just because they don't do something, doesn't make it wrong.

On more than one occassion I've had someone walk up to me while I was knitting and say they thought only old ladies knit. As I am only 37, and I am knitting, obviously that's not the case. It makes me so mad sometimes.

Introducing Shorty!!!

Since this is my first blog I thought I should use it to introduce myself.

My name is Sonya. I'm thirty something, divorced woman with no children. I live in Detroit, MI, and only recently re-entered the world of knitting.

A very sweet neighbor taught my sister and I to knit almost thirty years ago. And since then I have tried my hand at many other crafts. My most recent obsession, before knitting, was quilting. My dad's golf buddy introduced me and my mom to his wife, who is a quilter. She graciously taught my mom and I to quilt. For about two years we met every week and shared stories, ideas, and projects (new and future). After my parents moved to Arizona, and my friends health started to fail, I started looking for a new hobby. One day I decided to take my friend to the theatre to see "The Three Mo' Tenors", and downstairs from the theatre was a fantastic yarn shop. From the moment I walked in the door and touched the yarn, I was hooked. That was only about two months ago, but my stash is already overflowing several bins in my spare room.

About the same time, I upgraded my iPod from a Nano to a Video iPod. When I did, a friend and I started talking about podcasts. After a quick search I found several on knitting, and again I was hooked. Thanks to Dr. Emmie and several other podcasts I found my way to blogger.com. And now here I am posting to my very own blog.

I can't wait to see what will happen next.
