WHAT THE FUCK!!!

This morning I saw a Dairy Queen commercial that pissed me off to absolutely no end.  Picture it:
A young mother and her pre-teen daughter are in line at DQ.  The mother asks the clerk for two sundaes.  The young girl looks around the room, catches the eye of a pre-teen boy, turns back to the counter and tells the clerk, "Just one sundae."  The mother looks on stunned, but doesn't dispute the daughter.  They take a seat in a booth, and suddenly a
DQ clerk walks over and places a sundae in front of the girl telling her it's compliments of the young boy she had made eye contact with while she was in line.  The girl coyly smiles at the boy, turns back to face her mother and says, "Like Taking Candy from A Baby!"
(Or something like that. I don't recall the exact words.  By the time it got to this point in the commercial I was furious!)

Is it just me, is this fucking ridiculous.  What in the hell are we teaching our children;  manipulation, deception, dishonesty are the best ways to get what you want?  Screw everyone else, or how they might feel.  Who thought this was an appropriate commercial?  Or am I just fucking clueless, and this is the way the world works now?  Somebody help me out with this one. Because I just don't get it.  What has become of us?  Does anyone think that maybe shit like this is the reason no one thinks of the anyone else anymore.  It's all about what "I" want, no matter who I have to use, step on, or abuse to get it.  Fuck it, as long as I get what I want.  What happened to things like: "Do Onto Others, and Respect For Your Fellow Man.  To name just two.

Okay, okay, I'm done ranting.  I'll step off my soapbox now.  I just hope I'm not in the minority on this one.  Please someone tell me I'm not crazy for being outraged.  Someone tell me we have a chance.  Someone tell me, this is not what we have all become.  PLEASE!!!  SOMEONE TELL ME SOMETHING, PLEASE!!!

after this weekend, that doesn't surprise me - try being in a hotel where a kiddie beauty pagent is going on and where the kids wear more makeup than I have in my lifetime - pretty sad

Girl, you are not alone. I haven't seen this commercial but sounds to me like you hit the nail on the head. This is why the kids are having kids and that little tramp you saw at the mall is only 13 yrs old. They're teaching young girls that sex is how to get what you want. It's disgusting...I would have thrown that thing in that boys face and taken my daughter home for a good long talk and then some.

Hugs!

Well I'm sure you already know how I feel about it.....I really wonder where (as a country and I suppose as a world) we're all going to end up. The morals have dropped so low nowadays and I don't see it getting any better.God forbid the economy should get any worse because I just don't know if we as people would come together to survive (like we would have done in the past) or would we just start killing one another for flour, milk and eggs.
All I can say is I better stash some more yarn : )

I have a four year old daughter and would die if she said something like that at such a young age. It is horible that our society is supporting things and actions like that. no wonder teen pregnancy rate is up.
