LONG OVERDUE!!!

I know I've been away far too long.  And I don't really have an excuse.  I just haven't been able to express myself lately.  If you've been following my blog, you'll know I've been on YouTube a lot lately.  And I've shared several videos I enjoyed.  But now it's time for me to get back to what this blog is really about.  Knitting!!!

These little cuties, "Whatsit", were made by one of the wonderful young ladies I knit with on Tuesdays.  She actually made one for each of the regular Tuesday knitters.  And her mom made one for one young lady's son.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again.  I have a great group of friends.

About a week ago, while knitting at Panera, a woman came in wearing the  coolest boots I had ever seen.  She was nice enough to let me take a picture.  I guess you can see why I liked them so much.  That's right they're knitted.      Needless to say, I had to figure out how to make a pair for myself.  First, I found a pattern (Prairie Boots) on Ravelry that is identical to the stitch pattern that is on the boots.  Ravelry is a godsend.  I purchased it immediately, bought yarn and cast on my first boot.  Unfortunately, the yarn I bought (Lamb's Pride Bulky) was far too thick and thin to make a consistent stitch pattern on the boot.  It really bugged the hell out of me.  You can only see a few of the bumps in the picture, but take my word for it.  They look horrible.
These were being modeled by my friend B.  so I could try to get a few good pics.

I cast on the pattern  again with a different yarn, Bernat Softee Chunky, and the stitches look much better.  Unfortunately they still don't have the weight I would need for the boots to be successful outside boots.
I'm going to put this project off for a while.  At least until I can come up with a better yarn choice.  Or some other idea that will make these possible as outside boots.

Now I'm off to get back to work on my current Amigurumi.  I'll try to post more frequently this week.

Those boots are too cool. Did she have rubber soles so she would wear them outside. I might have to make myself a pair.

I've seen that pattern before and I LOVE it! If you find a way to make them outside-friendly please let me know.
