I finished the second glove tonight. And I didn't do to bad, if I do say so myself. And I do say so, myself. It took two tries. The first glove came out too large around the wrists. And the fingers were too short. The "Touch Me" yarn is so delicate, I didn't dare try to re-use it for the second try. Instead, I decided to use it in the stockinette scarf I'm making to go with the gloves. I'm doing a elongated stitch row at the beginning and end, with plain st st in the middle. so far I kind of like it.
At the same time, I'm trying to finish the Entrelac scarf I've been trying to finish for a few months. It's about 3/4th done with it. I want to make sure it's long enough to wrap around my shoulders, and then some.
As you can see it's an edited version of the "Lady Elanor" from the book Scarf Style. And an extended version of "Danica" from Knitty.com (in verigated yarn instead of two colors).
And speaking of the "Lady Elanor", thanks to a couple of my knit pals Amy and Rachel. As well as several completed project pics I found on flickr. I purchased several skeins of Noro Silk Garden (226c), a beautiful combination of greys, green, purple and blue, and I'll be casting on my own "Lady Elanor" some time this week. I can't wait.

Here's my second attempt to make a pair of gloves using the "Touch Me" yarn. This time I went one down one needle size. And the cuff is made on needles one size smaller than that. I'm going to try on the glove more often, and be a little less litteral in following the pattern. As it doesn't seem to have been made for my hand shape and size. I'll try on the glove more often to get the finiger sizes more comfortable for my short fat fingers. Hopefully it will work out better this time. This yarn is way too expensive for too many mistakes. But I can't resist the possibilities.
Wish me luck!

Here is my first published "Fast and Wrong"! My 1st glove was completed a couple of days ago. At first I thought it was going great. Boy was I wrong!
The cuff is too short, the glove section is too wide and not long enough, and the fingers won't be long enough when I have my nail done.
Boy did I blow it.

I've spent the last week juggling playing girls high school basketball fan, and dealing with a hellacious highpertension spike. My head has been killing me since last week. After a wasted visit to ER (almost 5hrs) and an appointment for Monday with my regular doc's partner (my doc is on vacation for two weeks), I'm off work until the pressure is back under control. Boy does that suck.
On the knitting front, not much new has been done. I've started my gloves several times. And have frogged every attempt so far. I may have to break down and actually buy a pattern book with gloves in it just to get these done. I'm dying to have the scarf and glove set complete before the first snow of the season. Only time will tell though.
Well, it's time for my meds again. So off to sleep I go for a few hours. Hopefully I can post again later.

It's been two weeks since I last posted. And what a heck of a time I've had. Major family issues, work issues, and three birthday parties. Sounds like I've been soo busy, when actually I've just been drained. Emotionally, and physically drained.
The last few days were much better for me. I went to a Knit Out at my LYS, with my new and current friends, Amy, Beth, Dana and Amanda. Dana showed me the gloves she made using "Touch Me" and I about died. They were exactly what I want to do with my own "Touch Me". I did start and finish my first Mobeus scarf (using Touch Me.
I think after I block it and weave in all the ends it's going to be really gorgeous. It'll be even better with the gloves to match, lol.
I'm about half done with my version of the "Danica" scarf. I'm going to have to order several more ball of the yarn (sucks!!!!). We'll see what I end up with.

What a great trip! My parents and their friends spoiled me rotten! Now I need a vacation after my mini vacation/layoff. I ate more than I should have (as always when I visit there). Played Mahh Jongg with my mom and her friends (not the solitare version). Did some shopping. (pics in next blog post) Enjoyed the 100+ degree temps. And had and all around great time.
Here are a few pics from the trip. I kept forgetting to take my camera out, so I don't have nearly as many pics as I would have liked to.

Also while there I did some more work on my "Danica Scarf". It's not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. And it's coming out much better than my first attempt. I switched from using two different colors of yarn to using a varigated (sp?) yarn. What do you think?
